Welcome to Kings, Highway to Discovery

A journey is not just about the destination...

Whoever said that must've travelled the Kings Highway from Canberra to the NSW South Coast. Doubtless, this stretch of road features gems at either end, but it's what's along the way that makes this precious part of the world an adventure like no other.

The towns and villages along this route are well worth a visit - that's a given - but so are the glorious, unspoilt National Parks and historic rural properties that surround them. It's in this exceptional landscape that you'll find some of Australia's best bushwalks, fishing and other adventures.

Similarly, events in this region provide an unforgettable snapshot of country life: rodeos; country fairs; exhibitions; festivals and the like. This South Eastern part of NSW really is a world within a world!

Explore! Experience! Enjoy!

Some of the best activities, festivals and events in NSW will feature in the coming months along the 140 km stretch of the Kings Highway, NSW. Australia.

Did you know?

*3 million vehicular movements occur along the Kings Highway per annum! That's a lot of cars, trucks and motorbikes!

*The first two Melbourne Cup winning horses were born and bred in the historic township of Braidwood.

*In 1938 the Captains Flat Hotel was home to the longest bar in the Southern Hemisphere. At 32-metres long, it served around one hundred 36 gallon kegs a week! Chug-a-lug!

*The expanse of National Parks that surround this well worn path, is the most sizeable in the eastern part of NSW.

*In 1861, 30% of the Araluen district’s miners were Chinese.
