Horse RidingTrailriding… Campdrafting… Natural Horsemanship… Champion Polocrosse… Race Meetings… Instruction and Lessons… Dressage… A Girls Only Riding Club
Yep! When it comes to things horsey the region has it all. If you like horses (and mixing with people who have a passion for riding) you’d be silly to say ‘NAY’ to what’s on offer here. Bungendore offers a lot, everything from a local pony club to professional instruction in dressage. The Bungendore Riding Club is a social, riding event and instructional club for adults that offers fun events as well as those that test the talents of riders of all skill levels. The Kings Hill Riding School promises an enjoyable riding experience for everyone, with their trustworthy ponies, private lessons and school holiday camps. Kids and adults alike can take some private riding lessons to touch-up on their skill and technique. As in most endeavours, a little basic instruction and an occasional refresher can do wonders. But.... if you enjoy watching rather than doing - try an afternoon at The Bungendore Rodeo. It’s the real thing that attracts some of the best talent in the country, heart thumping stuff. From the early pastoral and gold mining days the Braidwood district has a long association with the horse. Archer the first (1860) and second (1861) winner of the Melbourne Cup was bred here as was the 2007 World Champion Polocrosse player Aaron Clarke. NA – Warning: This next section is to be read ONLY by girls under the age of 15. ONLY with their permission can this then be read by parents! Just out of Braidwood you'll find the unique (and very 'pink') riding retreat, Saddlecamp. Saddlecamp is for 'young girls only' and has been designed around the dreams most young girls and early teens have about horses. Helen Faulkner (alias 'Top Whip' and a qualified instructress) knows what young girls like - and delivers it. Riding, dressage and jumping lessons... horse care, grooming, pony tail plaiting... getting to know your horse... gymkhanas with games and prizes... horse rides on the 100 acre property... campfire lunches... even bushranger sightings and the occasional birthday party. Saddlecamp has just sponsored the Kings Secrets page of the website, for more information please click here... If I were 12 again, this would be a must * Image Acknowledgements - credits page |
